Music Review - Rose City Band

The second album by Rose City Band, Summerlong, like most interesting music defies easy description and doesn't fit neatly into any preset genre or category. What Ripley Johnson and Friends has done here is put together a very enjoyable 8 song set that manages to be relaxing and toe-tapping at the same time. Blending Alternative Country with Psychedelic expressiveness, he creates a surreal sonic landscape that feels both strange and comfortable simultaneously. At only 40 minutes long, this is the perfect record to play with a glass of chilled wine on the porch while the day slips into the softer colors of dusk. Give it a listen and forget all the madness in the world, at least for a little while.
